As a black owned tour operator in one of the most economically challenged regions of South Africa, we are committed to contributing to the empowerment of the local communities; and we support other professional and well established black owned tour operators, suppliers and travel agents in our region. We are developing a local network of guides and service providers, that we will be sharing on this website; to enable travellers to South Africa to make conscious choices when visiting any region of our beautiful country.
Shoes Mathebula

Khalanga Safaris is small, family run tour operator founded in 2016 by local guide Shoes Mathebula after 20 years of working as a tracker, guide and field ranger in and around Kruger Park.
Shoes is now applying his passion for nature, tourism and guiding to his own business and has managed to create a tourism experience that has garnered national attention (2018 Provincial Lilizela Award Winner - best tour operator) and outstanding reviews across many booking and rating platforms.
Shoes is leading Khalanga Safaris as a Business Director, as well as an Operational Manager and Head Guide.
Ishmael Nyathi
(Guide)
Ishmael is joining our team with 23 years of experience in guiding and tourism. Born and raised in the western section of Kruger National Park he was fortunate enough learning everything about animals and nature from an early age, and developing a genuine love of the bush that is his main driving force and what makes him the outstanding guide he is.

Thamia joined our team in January 2024 and she has become an invaluable team member; handling inquiries and bookings, organizing and managing tour schedules and running our social media accounts.
