Traditional Dance Sunday Afternoon activity

Every Sunday, the locals of the Bushbuckridge Municipality come together in alternating locations to enjoy this special traditional dance event which is unique to this region.

 

Take part in this authentic Shangaan entertainment. Only on Sunday afternoons!

The Mochongolo is a dance event where various dance groups perform on a playful yet competitive level. It is performed mainly for local entertainment - so, it is not a show that has been set up for tourists. The locals love this event and the atmosphere grows to a climax as the performance becomes more acrobatic and fast paced. The event starts in the early afternoon and usually closes with the most professionally trained groups. Street food can be purchased on site as a number of vendors set up their stands for this event. Usually chicken, fish, grilled corn, chips and drinks are available.
